Next Step Preschool…

DerekSo I started calling around to preschools this week. Derek will be starting this August. I think I found the preschool for him. It isn’t the most expensive but it looks like it could really prepare him for the next step, Kindergarten! It is amazing we are thinking this now.  I having been reflecting on when he was a little bitty baby. The last 6 weeks Derek has attended 2 programs with the City’s Parks & Recreation, Tiny Tykes Sports and ABCs & 123s. He really enjoys them both; however the sports class is a little hard on his body. He is still healing from 2 major surgeries. I have just been allowed, by him, to leave the classes he participates without my direction. I feel a little left out and proud at the same time.

Derek is starting to grow taller quickly as well. He just started fitting into his size 3 pants (length-wise,) shortly after the transplant and I am noticing that it won’t be long before he needs a size 4 (unless we get some deep floods.) He is still SUPER skinny but is eating well and I am sure once his little body finds its balance we will see his proportions a bit more balanced as well. It doesn’t help the little guy runs all waking moments with a short nap mid-day.

He still has lots of love in his heart (which must be bigger than his ‘battery’.) He is a great big brother, most of the time, helping guide Monet through a few of the obstacles of the day.

Anyways, just a small update on life as we see it for Derek.

Their 1st Day in the Snow

You would never know it but Derek and Monet experienced snow for the first time yesterday, they were old pros and had a blast.

Monet & Snowball

Derek is begging to go back for more but with temps in the Valley reaching the 70’s I believe it will be in the 50’s or 60’s up north today and there will be no more snow. It was only an hour drive and so well worth the time together as a family.

We are hoping next year we can take them a few more times and maybe get a sled for a lot more adventure.
